THOMAS SCHOSTOK aka {ths}
{ths} is an internationally renowned artist and the founder of the iconic BEAST Magazine. His unique works combine photography, comics, newspaper clippings, advertisements, typography, and handwritten quotes to create colorful yet gritty pieces of art. Although abstract in nature, these works still manage to convey a story upon closer inspection.
{ths} describes his style as “Neo-Trash”, which reflects his use of recycled and ephemeral materials to create something new. The term "layers" encompasses both the intention and production of his artwork, which often contains a deceptive contrast or criticism of the subject. While his earlier works were created using acrylic paint, his more recent works are digitally created and then meticulously arranged to create a layered effect.
Despite the often-subversive nature of his work, {ths} is without anger or hate. His fondness for the music of Elvis Presley and Barry White keep him in good spirits while he works. Hail to the King, Baby!
